low voltage power transformer

What a dry-type, low voltage power transformer is.

A low voltage, dry-type distribution transformer is a completely static electrical device that utilizes induction to convert an alternating current from one voltage to another, within the 120V – 600V range. It is especially suitable for those who would like to ‘go-green’ with their electrical setup. The main reason for using a power transformer is to enable matching of the supplied voltage to the electrical load of the consumer device. A low voltage transformer does this by either stepping up (increasing) or stepping down (decreasing) the supply voltage. Low voltage power transformers do not require vaults for installation, meaning that they can be located right at the load and thus eliminate the need for costly low-voltage feeders.
